Choosing the right font for your next logo


Designing a logo is an arduous and lengthy task, it involves critical thinking and creativity of the mind. Choosing the font of the logo is a small but essential step in the overall design process of the logo design. In spite of so many free fonts available in the open market and printers and designers available to do all the designing stuff for you, the critical thinking process still remains with you. As you have to choose the design theme, the look as well as the purpose of your logo design.
Here are some assumptions and tips to guide you to the destined logo of your choice:

Type only logo design:

The simplest as well as the most complex type of logo designs are those that have only text involved. That is the logo designs are made up of one or more than one font and the strength and power of these fonts resonate the way people think after watching these logo designs. The best thing to start with these type of logo designs is to decide on the type of business that your company does and take advice of senior designers about which type of font will look at its best in your company logo.

Will it be appropriate?

 A logo needs to be done keeping in mind the maximum and minimum size of different branding and promotional products. For example, A logo needs to be pasted on a pen and a billboard of 12 ft width. SO, THe question is, will the logo remain the same and recognizable in both the cases?
When shortlisting the fonts, its better to experiment with different kind of fonts on the computer so to get an idea how will the logo look like when displaced on the product.

Use of Negative space:

Negative space in logo designs is useless. However, some companies have used the negative space in their logo design with hidden meaning. FedEx is one of the companies that has not only used the negative space in its logo design but also made a hidden meaning out of it. But a word of though, before finalizing the hidden meaning of your company logo . You need to decide about the sizes of logo design. There are sizes at which the hidden message in the logo will not be seen. So, the message in the negative space needs to be made in such a way that it shows at all sizes.
